01 / The challenge
Selling a $200 bootcamp takes more than announcing registration is open.
The business needed to attract people willing to pay $200 for an online bootcamp. That meant the marketing had to do more than build awareness. It had to communicate the programme’s value, reach the right audience and give people a reason to buy.
The business also wanted to expand its visibility and strengthen its relationship with its existing audience. The challenge was to drive ticket sales while building awareness that would outlast the campaign.
The objective was to turn attention into demand, and demand into paying attendees.
02 / Strategy & execution
A connected campaign built around the buying journey.
Rather than running the campaign as a series of promotional announcements, we built it around the audience and the stages of the buying journey.
- 01
Understood the audience
Effective campaigns start with knowing who you’re trying to reach. We used existing audience information to research potential attendees and understand their interests and motivations. That shaped the campaign’s messaging.
- 02
Built awareness through content
Social media was central to the campaign’s reach. We developed and distributed content that attracted attention, communicated the programme’s value and encouraged people to engage with the brand. Reels did most of the reach work, reaching 537K accounts, while posts drove the growth in engagement.
- 03
Supported conversion
Awareness alone doesn’t sell tickets. The messaging moved interested prospects towards registration by communicating the bootcamp’s value and giving them enough information to decide.
- 04
Connected the channels
Audience research, email, content and social media worked together as one campaign rather than separate activities, supporting the journey from awareness to purchase.
03 / The results
More than 260 people paid $200 to attend.
The campaign supported more than $54,000 in bootcamp ticket revenue. The Instagram results went well beyond registrations:
- 548,578 accounts reached in one month, 87% of them non-followers, reaching new people rather than only the existing audience.
- 99.7% of reach came from non-advertising sources, with only 0.3% from ads.
- 3.29 million impressions, up 352K on the previous month.
- 109,143 content interactions, up 12.6K, with none coming from ads.
- Post interactions nearly doubled to 34,149, up 16.2K.
- Reels generated 12,698 saves and 11,768 shares—signals that people found the content worth keeping and passing on.
Strategically distributed content can generate significant visibility without relying on paid reach.
04 / What this project demonstrates
Marketing should be measured by what people do next.
A campaign can generate millions of impressions and still miss its commercial goal. What made this one valuable was the combination: Instagram performance showed the brand could reach a large new audience, and registrations showed real demand for a paid programme.
Marketing shouldn’t be judged only by how many people see it. It should be judged by what they do next.
Generating demand takes more than attractive content. It takes understanding the audience, communicating value and supporting the journey from awareness to purchase. I don’t treat social media, email and content as separate activities. I look at how they work together to reach a commercial objective.
